Rhinoplasty Phoenix AZ

Your nose is a central feature and one of the most defining facial characteristics. When it is aesthetic and in proportion, it leads to a balanced look that highlights your eyes, mouth, and even cheeks. On the other hand, an out-of-proportion nose can make your entire face less appealing, negatively impacting on your self-image. Plastic surgeons perform rhinoplasty – also known as nose reshaping surgery – in order to improve the functional and aesthetic characteristics of the nose. Many patients who receive this treatment find that even the slightest alteration in their nasal appearance can greatly enhance their looks – and thus overall sense of self-confidence.

Phoenix plastic surgeons, Dr. Tessler and Dr. Turin, performs rhinoplasty in order to achieve a balanced and attractive facial appearance or correct functional defects of the nose. Dr. Tessler and Dr. Turin has helped numerous individuals from Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert, and surrounding AZ cities meet their unique goals with transformative cosmetic procedures, such as rhinoplasty. The surgeon understands that the needs of different individuals are unique and works to create a highly customized treatment plan to suit the needs of each patient.

Quick Facts

Rhinoplasty is one of the 4 most popular plastic surgery procedures today. In 2019, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reported that there were more than 207,000 nose reshaping surgeries in the United States alone. According to an analysis published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, satisfaction rates for this cosmetic surgery average at over 83%. For patients, the key to a successful procedure is to find the right board certified plastic surgeon.

Origin of Rhinoplasty

Although the idea of altering the shape of the nose has been around for centuries, the first papers on rhinoplasty were published in 1887 by a Michigan-based surgeon known as John Orlando Roe. His work was later advanced by Dr. Jacques Joseph, who founded a reconstructive hospital to treat World War I injuries. Throughout the last 100 years, many other surgeons and scholars have made important contributions to the refinement of rhinoplasty techniques. This has essentially made it possible for modern plastic surgeons to deliver this procedure with a high degree of precision while also aesthetically delivering the best rhinoplasty results.

Types of Rhinoplasty

Dr. Tessler and Dr. Turin has a variety of rhinoplasty surgical techniques that he can use to suit the requirements of the patients and goals of the surgery:

Closed rhinoplasty – In this type of rhinoplasty, the surgeon will create an incision inside the nose (via the nostrils) and use it to reshape the nose. This kind of procedure is extremely common and often used in cases where only minor reshaping is needed. Since the incision is created inside the nose, the resulting scar is invisible and this typically contributes to an optimal result. Keep in mind though that this technique is not for patients who need severe reshaping.

Open rhinoplasty – In open rhinoplasty, Dr. Tessler and Dr. Turin will create an external incision between the nostrils. This allows a better view of the confines of the nose, making it possible for the surgeon to manipulate the bone and cartilage as needed. While this technique results in an external scar, it is usually very tiny and not easily noticeable. Open nose reshaping is typically the technique of choice for patients who need to address a moderate-to-severe aesthetic or functional concerns.

Noninvasive/nonsurgical rhinoplasty – Some patients are interested in enjoying the benefits of rhinoplasty but without going through the surgical procedure. Dr. Tessler and Dr. Turin offer a noninvasive option using injectable fillers that are inserted below the skin in the nose region in order to achieve the desired cosmetic outcome. While this technique does not lead to any downtime and can be completed in about 30 minutes, it can only be used to address very minor aesthetic concerns. More so, nonsurgical nose reshaping is only a temporary solution and not a permanent fix.
